Nestled in the heart of Kyoto, 甘味処 乃あん (Japanese style cafe Noan) offers a delightful escape from the bustling streets, making it the perfect spot to recharge during your exploration of this historic city. Known for its exquisite kakigori (shaved ice), Noan invites you to indulge in a refreshing treat that will cool you down, especially on those sweltering summer days.

The atmosphere in this quaint café is wonderfully inviting, complete with cozy seating, air conditioning, and gentle jazz music playing in the background. As you step inside, the friendly staff greets you with warm smiles, ready to help you navigate their delectable menu filled with traditional Japanese sweets and desserts.

Real customer experiences echo the magic of this little gem. One reviewer, A L, emphasizes, “If you are looking for kakigori, COME HERE!!” Their recommendation comes from personal experience—having tasted various 'kakigori,' they affirm that Noan’s offerings, especially the Yuzu (lemon) flavor with a side of condensed milk, are unbeatable. The matcha options also receive high praise for their robust flavor, proving to be a fantastic pick for matcha lovers.

Jun Ming Ng highlights the café's accessibility, noting that “no minimum required order” allows for a relaxing stop that suits any schedule. With a slightly bitter yet strong matcha experience, he recommends Noan as the ideal place to unwind amidst your journey. Elyse and Amber Acosta both reflect on the comfort and serenity found within, describing it as a perfect rest stop after a long walk to visit the nearby temples. The quality of the tea and desserts shines, with matcha drinks and ice cream earning notable mentions for their supreme taste.

Iskandar captures the quaint charm of the café, emphasizing its strategic location near the Kodaiji sho museum. The warmth of the atmosphere and the limited yet delightful menu of traditional desserts create a perfect spot to take a breather amidst Kyoto’s rich cultural landscape.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick refreshment or settling down for a more leisurely experience, 甘味処 乃あん promises not just great food, but also a slice of Kyoto’s enchanting café culture. With air conditioning to combat the heat and heartfelt service waiting to serve you, make sure to include Noan in your Kyoto itinerary. You won’t regret it!

If you are looking for kakigori (shaved ice) COME HERE!! Look no further. If you’re not looking for kakigori: yes you are. Trust me. By far the best we’ve had. Get the side of condensed milk to add to the top. Our group like Yuzu (lemon) flavor the best but here are pics of the matcha which was also amazing. Absolutely perfect. They have other tasty desserts here as well, very nice air conditioning inside and clean. Incredibly sweet staff as well, highly recommend and will be coming back every time we are in Kyoto.

Great food and fantastic service. No minimum required order. The matcha was slightly bitter but very strong. Highly recommended as a place to have a short break on your journey!

If you have been walking long way to visit this beautiful area and would like to take a rest and have some Japanese style sweets, it’s good to visit this small cafe. Good tea and dessert here. Credit card is accepted.

Was simply looking for a nice place to rest after all the walking under the intense heat and stumbled upon this place! We were drawn here because the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The matcha drinks and icecream were perfect, and the service tea was also very good. They had wifi and the inside was air-conditioned. It’s a very lovely place to take a break from sightseeing. Matcha was so good we even bought some to take home!

Quaint cafe nestled near kodai-ji. If you're heading to the kodai-ji sho museum, you will likely notice them as the staff will welcome everyone who passes them. They offer some simple traditional desserts and sweets. Cozy interior, playing cafe jazz music. Their menu may be limited in variety but a great place to chill and rest your legs from the long hikes between temples and shrines. Their desserts are also great.

Ordered the brown sugar mochi, did not disappoint at all. Hidden amongst the traditional houses in Kyoto, worth a visit

This small store's matcha and mochi are a perfect pair! The matcha is rich and subtle, while the mochi is soft and chewy. A lovely local treat.

We stopped by this shop every day during our stay in Kyoto. The staff is very kind and the matcha and yuzu sodas are so refreshing. I try to recreate it at home regularly!
